Open Books at GETty Crafty, Saturday 6/11/11

If you’re out and about in Sacramento this coming Saturday, you might want to schedule a wander through Fremont Park (at 1515 Q Street), where the second annual GETty Crafty Fair will be taking place from 10 AM – 3 PM. I’ll be there selling the hardback, handbound writing journals from my Open Books project (among other items) – and I’m just one of close to 100 craftspeople showing that day.

GETty Crafty is a fair unlike any other: vendors’ booth fees go to raise money for the Getty Owl Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public benefit corporation whose mission is helping families and fighting Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). The profits from my Open Books sales that day will be going to the Druid City Garden Project, a nonprofit working for a healthy sustainable food system in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, so there’s really no better day to make an Open Book your own than this Saturday. Come early – supplies are limited, and I anticipate selling out before the end of the fair.

  1. Sounds like a great event. I will not be able to be there. Am participating in a Read-in of original works at the Franklin Community library in Elk Grove. Might as well jump off another cliff, right?
