I’m pleased to say that the fall sessions of my on-the-ground workshops in Sacramento and Davis are now officially open for registration, and that I have two incredible author events lined up for the 2015-2016 season!
The upcoming fall session of my long-lived, ongoing CREATIVE NONFICTION workshop in Sacramento (which will continue to meet in a 6:30–8:30 PM timeslot on Wednesdays) will return with a dynamic session focused on the intersections of memoir and essay. Like all that have preceded it in this workshop’s now eleven-year history, this session will provide you with regular deadlines and inspirations for your new writing and lots of feedback to support its development moving forward, clear through the fall.
I’m incredibly excited to announce that in conjunction with this session, we’ll enjoy an Evenings With Our Authors event on Sunday November 15 with Novella Carpenter, whose bestselling first book Farm City: The Education of an Urban Farmer will be on our fall syllabus, and that later this year (on Sunday April 17th) Sarah Manguso will join us to discuss her new memoir Ongoingness. To streamline planning, I’m building registration for Novella’s event into the course fee for the fall session of CNF–if you’re in CNF this fall, you’ll automatically be registered for it. (I’ll be grouping registration for Sarah’s event in with registration for the winter/spring session.) If you’re not going to be in workshop but want to register separately for one or both of those events, email me.
CNF will meet Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30 PM, September 2—December 16, at a lovely private home in Sacramento. If there is sufficient interest in a concurrent, parallel section that would meet in Davis on Tuesday nights in the same timeslot, I will offer one–please contact me for the registration form, which has all the details, if you have not already received it via email.
Interested in jumping in? Fabulous. Drop me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org to request the registration form (please specify for which workshop, or whether you’d like to register for Evenings With Our Authors), which covers all the rest of the details. PLEASE NOTE: early bird (discounted) registration ends Saturday, August 22; if you know you are definitely jumping in I encourage you not to wait to register because my workshops have a tendency to fill.
I hope your summers have been terrific, and look forward to seeing all of you soon back in California!
