The EWOA (Evenings With Our Authors) series is an intimate, seasonal dinner-and-discussion series I started in 2009 to run in conjunction with my CNF workshops. Run entirely by donation and open to past and present members of my workshops only, the EWOA series offers attendees an unparalleled opportunity to ask our authors the kinds of questions we most want to ask: about how to get out of our own ways, about how we might relate to the challenges of essaying, and about how to live as creators of our own work. We eat, we talk, we get read to—there’s really nothing else like it, and it’s a terrifically good time.
Past EWOA guests have included John D’Agata, Liza Dalby, Brenda Miller, Lidia Yuknavitch, Ryan Van Meter, Wendy. C. Ortiz, Elizabeth Scarboro, Novella Carpenter, and Pam Houston. In 2016-2017, we’ll be joined by Sarah Arvio (on December 11th) and Paul Lisicky (on April 23rd). Want to register for the next EWOA event?–email me at rgouirand [at] gmail [dot] com to see whether there might be room for you to join us. If you’re currently enrolled in one of my two local Creative Nonfiction workshops, your space has already been held for you for any EWOA events scheduled during the session.
